Ten years after the death of Gaetano Pompa, the cultural association Il Frantoio celebrates one of the most complex and hidden artists of the post-World War II period; an artist who went from the avant-garde to figuration in contrast to most of his generation. In the great exhibition at Il Frantoio, will be exhibited more than 60 works including paintings,sculptures, majolica and drawings,we want to deepen the link between Gaetano Pompa and La Maremma; land with which the ‘artist comes into contact since childhood and that will not abandon during the’ entire path of his artistic activity. Pompa observes the Maremma and Tuscia and grasps the landscape as the expression of the history and culture of the people who lived in those places. He thus takes the cue to go deep into the psychological, existential and autobiographical issues of contemporary man.
